Job summary

A local restaurant in Vancouver is seeking an experienced cook to oversee daily kitchen operations, prepare meals, and maintain high standards of food quality and safety. Candidates must have at least 2-3 years of commercial cooking experience and be able to manage inventory and training of kitchen staff. This full-time position offers a wage range of $32.00 to $37.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and cook full meals or specialty dishes based on the menu
  • Oversee daily food preparation and cooking activities in the kitchen
  • Develop and update menus and recipes according to seasonal availability and customer preferences
  • Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation meet the restaurant’s standards
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, food costs, usage, and sales
  • Estimate food and supply needs and place orders to maintain inventory levels
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards to ensure a safe and organized kitchen environment
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of cooks and other kitchen staff
  • Train cooks and other kitchen employees in food preparation techniques, kitchen procedures, and safe food handling

Job requirements:

  • Experience: 2~3 years of commercial cooking experience are required
  • Education: Completion of secondary school is required
