RF Hardware Engineer (Startup Co-Founder)

TandemLaunch is seeking a Hardware Engineer to join the founding team of an analog compute startup. You will drive the design, fabrication, and characterization of RF silicon-on-insulator (SOI) chips for a next-generation computational platform. You will play a critical role in developing and scaling the core technology in collaboration with world-leading academic labs, while also contributing to the technical leadership and team-building efforts as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and optimize RF and microwave circuits for SOI-based analog computing chips.
  • Lead tape-out processes , including layout, verification, and DRC / LVS validation.
  • Develop and execute test and characterization protocols for RF silicon chips.
  • Collaborate with foundries and fabrication partners to ensure smooth production.
  • Work closely with software and hardware teams to integrate RF systems into larger computing architectures.
  • Explore potential applications in data centers and telecommunications , optimizing designs for real-world deployment.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision and technical roadmap of the company as a core founding member.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with a focus on RF / microwave circuit design.
  • Proven experience designing and taping out RF SOI chips , preferably in a commercial or high-impact research setting.
  • Expertise in electromagnetic simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, CST, etc.) and circuit design tools ( Cadence, Synopsys, or similar ).
  • Hands-on experience with chip characterization, measurement setups, and test automation .
  • Previous experience in data center hardware, telecom, or high-performance computing is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for deep-tech innovation.
