Job summary

A leading communication solutions provider in Richmond is seeking an RF Electrical Engineer to join their engineering team. The role involves designing new RF products and enhancing existing designs, requiring strong experience in RF design, especially with components such as power amplifiers and synthesizers. Candidates should have a BSc in Electrical Engineering and significant hands-on experience in circuit design and testing. This is an on-site position, emphasizing collaboration and product development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in RF design.
  • Experience designing RF components, especially power amplifiers.
  • Thorough understanding of RF assembly processes.
  • Solid knowledge of electromagnetic theory.
  • Design experience for RF circuits operating above 10 GHz.
  • Hands-on schematic capture and PCB layout experience.
  • Experience building, integrating, and troubleshooting circuits.
  • Experience testing RF circuits and components.
  • Familiarity with waveguide components and analog/digital circuitry.
  • Proficiency with ADS, EMPro, HFSS, Altium and Waspnet; Agile/SolidWorks a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manufacture BUCs and SSPAs.
  • Customize and modify existing circuits.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturers to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
  • Convert requirements into conceptual designs and prototype development.
  • Assist with product development.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturers to ensure proper implementation.
  • Collaborate with Operations/Production to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Provide technical analysis for proposals and ensure designs meet requirements.

Job description

Summary

As a RF Electrical Engineer within the versatile engineering team, you will act as a technical champion for our products. You will play an integral role in designing new products/solutions and enhancing/maintaining our existing products, especially in the following areas: RF circuits, synthesizer circuits, waveguide components, filters/RF components, and system testing.

What You'll Do
  • Participate in the design and manufacturing of BUCs (block upconverters) and SSPAs (solid-state power amplifiers).
  • Customize and modify existing circuits.
  • Participate in the design of RF power amplifiers, including layout and process/assembly techniques and issues.
  • Convert requirements into conceptual designs and develop prototypes.
  • Assist with product development.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturers to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
  • Work with Operations/Production to resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Provide technical analysis for proposal writing activities.
  • Provide technical analysis to show designs meet requirements.
What You\'ll Bring
  • BSc in Electrical Engineering;
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in RF design;
  • Rich experience designing RF components, especially power amplifiers, synthesizers and related circuitry;
  • Good knowledge of EM theory;
  • Design Experience for RF circuits for frequencies above 10GHz;
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture & PCB layout;
  • Hands-on experience building, integrating, and troubleshooting circuits;
  • Hands-on experience testing RF circuits and components;
  • Experience designing waveguide components and analog and digital circuitry;
  • Thorough understanding of RF assembly processes;
  • Experience with the following software: ADS, EMPro, HFSS, Altium, Waspnet;
  • Familiarity with Agile and Solid Works considered an asset.
