As a key member of our hardware team, you will design, validate, and test ORBCOMM’s industrial IoT devices and sensors. The multidisciplinary hardware team collaborates closely with embedded systems, product integrity, and software engineering teams.

This position involves onsite work at our Ottawa, ON office, enabling in-person collaboration with other RF and hardware design engineers.

What You’ll Do

1. RF design and verification:
   • Design and develop satellite, cellular, BLE, LoRa industrial IoT products.
   • Conduct spectrum analysis, network analysis, and system testing.
   • Component selection and schematic capture.
   • PCB and schematic design reviews.
2. Antenna tuning and verification:
   • Work with mechanical and PCB design teams for integration.
   • Perform antenna matching, tuning, measurements, and pattern analysis.
3. System engineering:
   • Conduct propagation studies and field testing.
4. Full product lifecycle support:
   • Assist with precompliance testing and product certification.
   • Customize standard products for large projects.
   • Support supply chain engineering and RMA processes.

Who You Are

You are a strategic thinker with operational excellence, capable of managing multiple priorities with agility. You should have:

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; graduate degree preferred.
• Hardware skills including soldering, debugging, and test automation.
• Proficiency with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
