A leading educational institution is seeking a District Trades Technology & Careers Transitions Teacher Coordinator. This role involves developing and promoting a comprehensive trades training program, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring equitable access to training opportunities. District Trades Technology & Careers Transitions Teacher Coordinator:
The District Trades Technology & Careers Transitions Teacher Coordinator is a member of Innovative Learning in a Position of Special Responsibility working under the direction of the Director of Instruction, Innovative Learning or designate. The District Trades Technology & Careers Transitions Teacher Coordinator works collaboratively with district and school teams, post-secondary institutions, provincial affiliates, and community employers to support, develop, and maintain an equitable, inclusive and effective trades training and dual credit program in School District No.8.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supporting, developing, maintaining and promoting a comprehensive Trades Training & Dual Credit program
· Working as a program and curriculum team co-leader with school teams including counsellors
· Developing and maintaining positive post-secondary relationship with our local college partner
· Liaising with the Skilled Trades BC youth provincial program
· Monitoring and supervision of students in the Trades Training and Dual Credit programs including Youth Trades Training and Trades Sampler
· Establishing an intake process , supporting applications, facilitating transitions , and supervision of students for Trades Training & Apprenticeship programs, including three-year Trades Graduation Plans
· Supporting the integration of trades training and dual credit scholarships with the CLC 12 and Capstone 12 programs
· meeting and liaising with school teams, local employers and post-secondary partners
· support audit processes and clear and efficient tracking of students, including database entry
· work to support inclusive practices through and equity lens to ensure students have barrier-free access to trades training and dual credit programs
· teaching duties as required, such as supporting the Trades Sampler and/or Skills Explore programs

· Youth Train in Trades
· Youth Work in Trades
· Youth Skills Explore
· Trades Sampler
· Work Experience
General Duties and Responsibilities of a District Teacher Coordinator:
· Facilitate the goals and strategies of the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning and the District Strategic Plan for careers, transitions, and dual credit
· Work with staff to incorporate First Peoples Principles of Learning
· From an equity leadership lens, work to ensure students have barrier free access to trades training and dual credit programming
· Liaise with school teams, post-secondary partners, provincial affiliates, and local employers to secure trades training opportunities for students
· Facilitate family and student engagement events and trades training career fairs to improve participation in trades training and dual credit programs
· Work with district leaders and school teams on analyzing and reporting out on data, ensuring audit compliance, and supporting school teams to ensure student success through the 1701 process, graduation planning, and academic reviews

Schedule:
Due to district travel, presentations, meetings, and work commitments, schedule adjustments will arise and will be determined by the Director of Instruction or designate. Travel throughout the district may be required.
Minimum academic qualifications/experience:
a) Professional teaching certificate as recognized by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care
b) Red seal qualification preferred
d) Exemplary leadership, interpersonal, organizational and consultation skills
e) Possession of a current valid BC Driver’s License
Preferred qualifications/experience:
a) Five years of school-based teaching which includes a minimum of two years classroom experience in a career and trades program
b) Master of Education Degree or equivalent with minimum course work in the area of specified responsibility;
c) Extensive local and provincial knowledge of trades and career programs and current issues in delivery of service;
Reporting structure:
The District Trades Technology & Careers Transitions Teacher Coordinator is accountable to the Director of Instruction of Innovative Learning with direct supervision under the District Principal of Innovative Learning Services.
