Revenue Clerk

18 Month Term Position

The Town of Hay River is accepting applications for the position of Full-time Revenue Clerk for an 18 month term.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Finance & Administration, the Revenue Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate revenue generation for the Town. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures, and conducting financial reconciliations. This position is responsible for accounts receivable services such as utility billings, ambulance and user fee billings, as well as land leases invoicing and collections.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Processing accounts receivable and utility billings including the collection and maintenance of utilities accounts, invoicing for facility usage, ambulance services and landfill tipping fees;
  • Monthly reconciliation of all accounts receivable sub ledgers to the general ledger, except property taxes; and closes period;
  • Monitoring and contacting customers with accounts 60 days and older and provides recommendations to the Manager of Finance and Administration in the appropriate approach to collections of each overdue account;
  • Assisting the Taxation & Land Clerk in maintaining a comprehensive system of follow up regarding all matters related to the invoicing of land leases;
  • Providing daily cash reconciliation and bank deposit compilation to ensure accurate and timely monetary safeguards; and
  • Receiving and/or invoicing contribution agreement funders.


Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a 2-year accounting diploma or equivalent preferred; and
  • 3 years directly related accounts receivable experience or equivalent.


Job Knowledge Requirements:

  • Knowledge of office administration and accepted accounting practices; and
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and maintenance of general ledgers


Technical Skills:

  • Strong computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet and word-processing programs, and e-mail; and
  • Ability to maintain a high-level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.


Compensation:

  • $34.66 to $45.75 per hour with 37.5 hour work week
