    Job Summary :

    Lead return-to-work (RTW) activities for cases at risk to drive RTW outcomes. Ensure suitable and sustainable RTW outcomes through customized coordination of services at the right time, applying a customer-centric approach. Achieve optimal outcomes and promote leading RTW practices through innovative and specialized services.

    On a practical level, you would :

    • Provide information to injured/ill persons and their employers on the return-to-work process and educate both parties on their rights and obligations.
    • Identify obstacles to RTW and interventions needed to overcome them for positive outcomes.
    • Help develop RTW plans, with or without accommodations.
    • Provide expert advice, vocational rehabilitation planning, and support for coordinating RTW, including accommodations or transitioning to different jobs if necessary.

    Major Duties & Responsibilities

    1) Promote WSIB’s Return-to-Work Brand through :

    • Representing WSIB and acting as Brand Ambassadors, promoting WSIB’s RTW program aligned with professional guidelines such as ISSA.
    • Recommending, educating, and applying evidence-based practices to achieve optimal RTW outcomes and prevent injuries/diseases.
    • Maintaining professional credentials, including obtaining the CDMP certification within two years of employment.

    2) Apply a customer-centric approach and educate on :

    • Disability management, RTW principles, benefits of early RTW, rights and obligations under WSIB Act and policies.
    • WSIB’s suite of RTW services, resources, and industry-supported practices.

    3) Evaluate, assess, and interpret case needs by :

    • Gathering information holistically, collaborating internally and externally, and determining appropriate RTW approaches.
    • Arranging assessments and developing RTW plans based on right services at the right time.
    • Applying principles for special cases (e.g., mental health, ESL), researching risk factors, and leading innovative RTW options.

    4) Make and communicate decisions by :

    • Collaborating with all stakeholders, assessing RTW plans, and guiding successful outcomes.
    • Leading RTW discussions, resolving barriers, and clarifying responsibilities.
    • Making and communicating decisions, educating on rights and obligations, and monitoring compliance.

    5) Manage and monitor RTW plans for sustainability by :

    • Establishing follow-up systems, case conferences, and interventions to ensure ongoing focus on outcomes.
    • Coordinating additional interventions and maintaining communication for successful RTW.

    6) Perform caseload and RTW management functions :

    • Implement effective documentation and follow-up systems.
    • Document activities using WSIB systems.
    • Respond promptly to inquiries and manage case priorities.

    7) Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements : Job Requirements :

    Education :

    • University degree at undergraduate level in a related discipline (RTW).
    • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or completion within three years of employment.
    • Valid Ontario G class driver’s license or Class 5 for Quebec residents.

    This position is currently eligible for education equivalency. Additional experience may substitute education on a 2:1 basis, with a minimum threshold at the university level.

    Experience :

    • One year in return to work, disability management, vocational rehab, or clinical experience focused on rehabilitation.
