Position: Facilities Caretaker and Operations Coordinator Couple

Department: Kerith Ministries

Term: One year – with possibility of extension to permanent position

Positions: 2 Full Time Roles (40 hours/week)

Reports to: Kerith Creek Co-Directors

Location: Priddis, AB

Salary range: $42,000 - $45,000 + $9000 housing benefit per annum for each person

The compensation package includes on-site housing and full benefits.

About the Opportunity

Kerith Retreats ministry team plans and coordinates Focus Canada’s Christian retreat ministry. Staff within this team support the delivery of multi-day retreat sessions that focus on the renewal and refreshment of Christian ministry couples or singles.

We are seeking a fun, goal-oriented couple with servant hearts to warmly relate to individuals and guests, residing on-site as the Caretaker and Operations couple at our retreat centre in Alberta. This couple would coordinate the care and maintenance of the facilities, oversee groundskeeping, perform administrative duties such as volunteer host management, and supervise food services and housekeeping. Experience in recruiting, supervising, and encouraging volunteers is highly desirable. The couple will reside in the residence on the property, with fair market value for rent and utilities added to their remuneration as a taxable benefit.

What’s the job?
Key Responsibilities of Caretaker
  • Oversee all facilities and property, including repairs and upkeep to meet high standards
  • Develop and execute maintenance schedules
  • Attend to building maintenance, safety procedures, and groundskeeping (lawn care, weed control, snow removal)
  • Operate small machinery (ATV, tractor, snow blower, chainsaw)
  • Build and lead a volunteer team for groundskeeping and property maintenance
  • Assist as host couple as needed
Key Responsibilities of Operations Coordinator
  • Develop and manage a volunteer host team for events and facility use
  • Recruit, train, support, and oversee volunteer hosts
  • Support facility readiness for retreats and events
  • Oversee food service logistics and dietary needs
  • Prepare make-ahead dishes when necessary
  • Assist with administrative tasks for retreats
  • Oversee housekeeping operations and assist as needed
  • Submit expense reports monthly
