Qualifications include Grade 12, SellSafe, knowledge of cannabis strains, Alberta regulations, two years of retail management, and AGLC approval as a Qualified Cannabis Worker.

  • Knowledge of Cannabis strains in effect.
  • Working knowledge of regulations as it pertains to the selling of Cannabis in Alberta.
  • Two years of retail management experience.
  • AGLC approval as a Qualified Cannabis Worker.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure store operates under Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission regulations.
  • Oversee daily store management per company policies and expectations.
  • Provide feedback to Operations Manager and develop mini-action plans as needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership to maintain a positive, motivated workforce.
  • Develop and achieve store budget objectives in sales, margins, expenses, profits, and inventory turns.
  • Schedule staff according to sales needs and maintain proper EHP.

Job description

Calgary Co-op is seeking a Cannabis Store Manager to become a member of our co-operative team. Responsible for the overall operation of their Cannabis location to improve service, program execution and company profitability. This includes scheduling, appraisals, budgeting and attainment of financial results. Other responsibilities include the overall management of image, standards, implementation and adherence to company programs, policies and procedures, as well as human resources related activities.

Qualifications and Key Competencies
  • Grade 12 education

  • Working knowledge of regulations as it pertains to the selling of Cannabis in Alberta
  • Two years of retail management experience
  • AGLC approval as a Qualified Cannabis Worker
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly responsible to ensure the store adheres to Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission operating regulations.
  • The ongoing overseeing of the daily store management ensuring operation and management in accordance with company policies, procedures and overall expectations.
  • Directly responsible to ensure the store adheres to Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission operating regulations.
  • Provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to the Operations Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of store operations. Where necessary, develop and administer mini-action plans for desired results.
  • Demonstrate and provide ongoing professional leadership that creates a positive/harmonious working environment within the location.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the store team toward building an ongoing positive, highly motivated, work force within the store.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development and achievement of store budget objectives in the areas of sales, margins, expenses, profits, EHP and inventory turns.
  • Schedule staff according to sales needs, ensuring that EHP is adhered to.
  • Ensure the store’s merchandising standards are being managed and maintained in accordance to company expectations.
  • Ensure company programs are being implemented and managed in accordance to company expectations.
  • Ensure ongoing creative merchandising that creates a WOW image in the consumer’s mind.
  • Ensure the store’s housekeeping, sanitation and maintenance schedules/standards are managed and being maintained in accordance to company expectations.
  • Ensure the store adheres to government regulations in the area of labeling, pricing, sanitation and food safety.
  • Attend and actively participate in commodity, labour management and Occupational Health and Safety meetings.
  • Provide information, assistance and courteous service to customers.
  • Order products and supplies according to needs using approved suppliers.
  • Use proper storage and handling for all inventories.
  • Take inventories and extend as per company schedules and policies.
  • Maintain receiving records and approve all invoices in accordance to company policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for reporting procedures as required by management.
  • Assume responsibility for maintenance of price lists as provided by Head Office.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies and Human Resources related information.
  • Directly responsible for employee relations, including hiring, training and development, performance management and expectations, discipline, recognition, policy and procedure development, administration and enforcement, terminations and security.
  • Participate in the development and action of yearly performance work plans and development action plans.
