Job summary

Adult & Teen Challenge of Central Canada’s SuperThrift store in Brandon is seeking a Sales Clerk to deliver exceptional customer service on the sales floor, stock shelves, assist with fittings, and process purchases while maintaining neat displays.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, at least one year of retail experience, and familiarity with POS systems, willing to work flexible hours in Brandon, Manitoba in alignment with the ministry’s Christ-centered mission.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year retail experience is preferred.
• Experience with thrift, cash, production, sales, or customer service is an asset.
• Experience working with a POS system and basic computer applications is desired.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance.

Position Summary

This role is primarily focused on customer service and ensuring customers shopping at SuperThrift have the best experience possible. This role will provide assistance to customers on the sales floor and support day to day retail operations which includes putting out new stock, serving customers, general storing and organization of product, assisting customers with the fitting rooms, and merchandising stock on the sales floor. To provide additional store support this position may be trained as back up cashier and/or production worker and will assist as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Stock shelves with new inventory.
• Create and maintain sales displays.
• Assist customers with the fitting rooms and putting away unwanted items.
• Clean and tidy merchandise and display areas.
• Carry product to a customer's vehicle.
• Ensure all customers, donors, and visitors receive courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
• Resolve customer concerns in a professional and respectful manner and elevate to leadership as required.
• Greeting customers, offering assistance, answering questions and offering product recommendations.
• As required you will cross trained and/or be asked to assist in other areas within the store.
• Assist customers with checkout and purchase.
• Operate checkout equipment including cash register, debit and credit machines and scanners.
• Manage cash through receipt of and providing correct change.
• Process customer payments including cash, credit, debit, coupons and gift certificates.
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
• Process returns/exchanges.
• Accept customer donations.
• Sort and categorize donated items.
• Inspect items quality and determine suitability for sale.
• Price items in a consistent manner, in line with company standards.
• Move and organize inventory in the production areas.
• Train new staff as required and assigned by store leadership.
• Answer phones.
• Ensure safety of yourself and others but keep workspaces clean and organized.
• Support other team members as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Credentials

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience in retail preferred.
• Experience in thrift, cash, production, sales, or customer service is an asset.
• Experience working with a POS system and basic computer applications.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
