Job summary

Adult & Teen Challenge of Central Canada (ATCCC) seeks a Production Worker for the SuperThrift store to help ensure product flow, quality control, and a well-stocked sales floor. You will sort donations, price items, and organize inventory for sale.

The role may be trained as back-up cashier or sales clerk and will assist with donations, stock replenishment, and customer service while supporting a Christ-centered mission. The work environment includes lifting and varied hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of retail experience preferred.
• Experience in thrift, cash handling, production, sales or customer service is an asset.
• Experience with a POS system and basic computer applications.
• Must obtain and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Accept customer donations and sort and price items.
• Inspect items and determine suitability for sale; price consistently.
• Move and organize inventory; stock shelves.
• Provide courteous customer service and handle checkout when needed.
• Cashier duties: process payments, returns, and provide change.
• Assist customers with fitting rooms, displays, and carrying items to vehicles.
• Cross-train and assist in other store areas as required.

Position Summary

This role is more of a behind the scenes position, ensuring product flow, quality control, consistency, and a replenished and well stocked sales floor for SuperThrift shoppers. This role will support back end operations which includes accepting dropped off donations, supporting donations arriving from store pickup, sorting and pricing donations, and putting out new stock. To provide additional store support this position may be trained as back up cashier or sales clerk and will assist as required.

Key Responsibilities

Production worker

• Accept customer donations.
• Sort and categorize donated items.
• Inspect items quality and determine suitability for sale.
• Price items in a consistent manner, in line with company standards.
• Move and organize inventory in the production areas.

Customer Service

• Ensure all customers, donors, and visitors receive courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
• Resolve customer concerns in a professional and respectful manner and elevate to leadership as required.
• Greeting customers, offering assistance, answering questions and offering product recommendations.

Additional Responsibilities

• As required you will cross trained and/or be asked to assist in other areas within the store.

Cashier

• Assist customers with checkout and purchase.
• Operate checkout equipment including cash register, debit and credit machines and scanners.
• Manage cash through receipt of and providing correct change.
• Process customer payments including cash, credit, debit, coupons and gift certificates.
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
• Process returns/exchanges.

Sales Clerk

• Stock shelves with new inventory.
• Create and maintain sales displays.
• Assist customers with the fitting rooms and putting away unwanted items.
• Clean and tidy merchandise and display areas.
• Carry product to a customer’s vehicle.

Other duties

• Train new staff as required and assigned by store leadership.
• Answer phones.
• Ensure safety of yourself and others but keep workspaces clean and organized.
• Support other team members as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Credentials

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience in retail preferred.
• Experience in thrift, cash, production, sales, or customer service is an asset.
• Experience working with a POS system and basic computer applications.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
