We are currently hiring for the position of:
RETAIL MANAGER
TIFF Shop is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Retail Manager to lead our team at TIFF Shop. Reporting into the Buyer, TIFF Shop, the ideal candidate will be passionate about retail and film, possess strong leadership skills, and have a proven ability to motivate staff while delivering outstanding customer service and upholding company policies. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Previous retail management experience required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor store staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Store Operations: Ensure smooth daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, overseeing scheduling, and compliance with company policies. Troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Customer Experience: Ensure exceptional customer service by engaging with customers, addressing their needs, and resolving any issues promptly.
- Visual Merchandising: Maintain an attractive and organized store layout that reflects our brand and enhances the shopping experience.
- Sales Management: Drive sales through effective merchandising, promotions, achieving sales targets and enhancing profitability.
- Inventory Control: Collaborate with Buyer on inventory processes and stock level management. Oversee online fulfillment through collaboration with Ecommerce Coordinator and In Store Staff.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators and develop strategies to improve sales, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Event Sales: Support retail operations at Lightbox events where needed. Lead third party relationships and execution of Pop-Up rentals.
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
- Job Grade 3
- $55,000-$60,000
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
- Target start date: May 26, 2025
WORK LOCATION:
- TIFF Shop Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
- Full-time hours, some evenings & weekends
- TIFF Shop hours are currently: Tues, Wed & Sun: 11-7pm; Fri-Sat: 11-9pm. Hours extend temporarily through the Festival.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years experience in a retail supervisory, management, or leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with Shopify strongly preferred; experience with Givex nice-to-have.
- Experience with visual merchandising preferred.
- Cash handling experience required.
- Ability to work in periods of low activity combined with periods of intense activity.
- Ability to stand for long hours, and maintain focus with regular interruptions.
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends.
- Previous experience working in an arts & culture and/or film environment is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams.
- Committed to providing exceptional customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive sales and achieve targets.
- Proven success in visual merchandising strategies.
- Proficiency in inventory management and basic financial analysis.
- Sound knowledge of retail operations and best practices.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment; ability to effectively and independently problem-solve.
- Strong passion and interest in the film and entertainment industry.
