Job summary

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership (MLSE) seeks an Accountant for Retail / Merchandise to partner with Finance and FP&A. You will manage inventory, COGS, gross margin, and financial reporting for Real Sports Apparel and venue merchandise.

Responsibilities include month-end entries, reconciliations, and cross-channel analysis across POS and e-commerce. Strong knowledge of accounting and retail finance is essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience with month-end activities, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Enrolled in or completed a recognized CPA designation.
• Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and balance sheet accounting.
• Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end journal entries, accruals, revenue and expense recognition, inventory and cost of goods sold entries, and reconciliations.
• Develop understanding of MLSE's retail and merchandise business, including channels and margins.
• Analyze monthly results and variances across sales, COGS, gross margin, and inventory.
• Reconcile sales and tender activity across POS, e-commerce, payment processor, and systems.
• Prepare monthly reporting with commentary connecting results to drivers.
• Partner with FP&A on budgeting/forecasting and provide accounting insights.
• Support year-end audit with documentation and inventory count assistance.
• Leverage Excel and Oracle Cloud ERP to improve reporting and processes.
