Salary Range : $75,000 - $80,000

The Role

The Retail Credit Adjudicator reviews, recommends, and approves complex personal and mortgage applications. They assess risks, respect organizational policies, and may recommend exceptions. They develop strong relationships with branch and corporate teams, providing coaching to ensure member satisfaction. They also contribute to business growth initiatives, focusing on personal lending and retail asset growth.

  • Communicate YNCU’s vision and values effectively, especially regarding Credit Adjudication
  • Provide leadership to ensure a positive member and colleague experience by making accurate decisions
  • Follow risk policies, using sound judgment and detailed analysis in credit reviews
  • Recommend or approve credit exceptions within authorized limits
  • Offer constructive feedback to retail teams to improve quality and decision-making
  • Promote sound credit judgment and adherence to policies
  • Participate in programs to drive credit growth
  • Identify process improvements to enhance organizational efficiency
  • Work closely with retail teams to develop member-centric solutions
  • Stay informed on economic indicators and industry trends
  • Support the Risk Team and work effectively within a team
  • Monitor business sectors for growth or deterioration to maintain portfolio quality
  • Maintain knowledge of lending policies and procedures
  • Conduct credit analysis and due diligence on new lending opportunities
  • Provide excellent service to internal and external clients
  • Follow YNCU policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Work safely according to health and safety policies and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma, degree, or certification in relevant fields, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in credit adjudication, including loans and mortgages
  • Strong knowledge of personal lending guidelines and policies
  • Understanding of credit union principles and member-focused banking
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Knowledge of banking operations and industry trends
  • Experience with DNA banking system and Doxim LOS is an asset
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • Bondability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
