Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Retail Catering team. The post holder will manage and lead on the provision of high quality retail catering services across a number of units in QEUH/RHC. The post requires a dynamic, forward thinking individual who possesses excellent communication skills, is conversant with IT applications and Microsoft packages. In addition the post holder must demonstrate an ability to engage with staff effectively and to consistently produce high quality standards of work, be highly adaptable and have an ability to prioritise workloads within a pressurised environment and have good customer care and retail skills.

The post will include the following responsibilities: Staff Management - dealing with challenging situations, Staff Training/ TURAS reviews, Completion of audits in relation to the service provision and Food Safety (HACCP) requirements, Full compliance with all required legislation, policies, procedures and regulations, Departmental Audits of kitchens, dealing with customer complaints. Financial management including profit & loss experience. The post holder also requires to have experience of corporate hospitality / functions management and demonstrate previous experience in introducing income generation schemes and spotting opportunities for retail growth.

The post holder requires to have a robust knowledge of Food Safety and will need to be certified in Advanced Food Hygiene. It would be desirable for the candidate to have a Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a related discipline. In addition they will require to have knowledge and experience in Health & Safety, Infection Control, COSHH, Lifting & handling and the use of all machinery required to be used in the provision of the Retail Catering Service.

This key role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong track record in managing multi-site retail catering operations, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service in a healthcare setting.
