Overview of the Position
As a part-time retail associate and key holder, you'll play an essential role in the daily operations of the Official 2025 Canada Games Box Office and retail storefront at Avalon Mall, helping to create a smooth, welcoming, and efficient experience for both customers and team members.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Assisting with daily operations of the retail storefront, including opening and closing duties as a Key Holder;
- Monitoring and restocking merchandise, maintaining accurate inventory levels and assisting with tracking inventory trends;
- Completing basic reporting related to sales and inventory, offering input on product performance as required;
- Supporting point-of-sale functions, including merchandise sales and ticket transactions, and troubleshooting basic issues as needed;
- Assisting storefront customers, addressing inquiries, and creating a positive customer experience;
- Offering on-the-floor support and guidance to volunteers or new staff during shifts;
- Supporting visual merchandising efforts to ensure the storefront aligns with brand guidelines;
- Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy relationships in the workplace;
- Executing all responsibilities in a manner which is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. John’s 2025 Canada Games;
- Fulfilling all other duties as reasonably required.
Education/Experience
- Related work experience or a combined equivalent of education and work experience.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
- Proficiency in using a point-of-sale system;
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
- Creative, results-oriented, able to deliver on deadlines and deliverables;
- Experience with Google’s G Suite programs (e.g. Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms and Calendar, etc.);
- Knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, events, or multi-sport Games environment;
- Ability to liaise and interact with multiple partners, locally, provincially and nationally.
Other
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
- Based on position requirements, flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Conditions of Employment
- Regular hours are approximately 23 hours/week.
- Shifts will be during regular storefront operating hours, which are from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday, and from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

- Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check are required for all positions.
