The Provincial Schools Authority requires a Resource Consultant to work in a 0.5 Head of Organizational Unit / 0.5 Resource Consultant position for a new three (3) year term effective September 1, 2025. The Head of Organizational Unit supervises and co-ordinates the subjects and programs and acts as a consultant for the teachers of the subjects or programs. The duties of a Head of Organizational Unit and the qualifications to hold the position are defined in Regulation 298 s. 14, 17, and 18. The Head of Organizational Unit must understand effective teaching techniques and how to design a curriculum (including IEP expectations) or series of courses on a particular topic with Ministry requirements in mind and whether it can be effective. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, arrange / coordinate consultative visits, caseloads, workshops, mentor new consultants, coordinate referrals and act as a liaison with other agencies and organizations related to Blind / Low Vision Programs. You will assist with report writing, support principal requests, facilitate case conferences and presentations / arrangements for staff development.

AREA OF SEARCH : Restricted to teachers currently employed by the Provincial Schools Authority.

Qualifications :

  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers – Valid Certificate of Registration and Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Specialist of the Blind (Teaching Students who are Blind / Low Vision Specialist).
  • Special Education Specialist.

Ability :

  • Ability to support current Ministry of Education initiatives and curriculum.
  • Ability to apply and assist teachers with the application of appropriate Ministry, Provincial and school policies and procedures.
  • Ability to assist the principal in developing and managing case-load assignments.
  • Ability to perform vision assessments such as the Gayle Lamb, SEA approver status, expertise in assistive technology for Blind / Low Vision.
  • Ability to make appropriate recommendations and modifications for Blind / Low Vision and assist with IEP development; IPRC’s; programming using smart goals.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of blind / low vision students.
  • Ability / experience to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and collaborative practices with community partners.
  • Demonstrated presentation ability and effective communication skills essential.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the province required to specified areas based on assigned caseload.
