POSITION SUMMARY:

If a station in the dining room is a symphony, the server is its conductor. Servers are responsible for leading and maintaining communication within the service team, while also being the primary presence at the table. They must delegate and prioritize quickly and constantly, taking control and ownership of every guest’s experience. High emotional intelligence and empathy-driven service are essential, along with a strong, confident presence derived from comprehensive food, wine, and spirits knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Lead guests through all aspects of the dining experience.
  2. Provide gracious and professional food and beverage service efficiently, including answering questions, suggestive selling, and creating an upbeat atmosphere.
  3. Be knowledgeable of the menu, brands, prices, options, promotions, and specials.
  4. Take guest orders and input them accurately into the POS system.
  5. Communicate allergy and dietary restriction information clearly on tickets.
  6. Deliver food and beverages promptly.
  7. Replenish beverages and ensure guest satisfaction throughout the meal.
  8. Serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages per regulations.
  9. Clear plates at appropriate times and seek help when needed.
  10. Crumb the table when appropriate during the meal.
  11. Keep serving station well-stocked.
  12. Present checks and handle transactions accurately.
  13. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tables and bar, and reset tables as needed.
  14. Thank guests sincerely and farewell warmly.
  15. Respond graciously to guest issues and report to management.
  16. Conduct oneself professionally, aware of actions and communication in guests’ view.
  17. Maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude to deliver high-quality service.
  18. Execute wine service when necessary.
  19. Assist in training new team members.
  20. Perform additional tasks as assigned by management, which may evolve with business needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Must obtain an Indiana Employee Liquor Permit.
  2. Ability to think and communicate clearly under pressure.
  3. Proficiency in professional wine service.
  4. Knowledge of pre-check register operation.
  5. Familiarity with computer operations and ordering procedures.
  6. Understanding of basic sanitation standards.
  7. Effective communication with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  8. Excellent attendance and punctuality.
EXPERIENCE:

Previous bartending, serving, or customer service experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Ability to stand and exert high energy for 4 hours or more.
  2. Ability to lift 15-30 pounds and move quickly between the dining room and kitchen for periods up to 4 hours.
