Job Opportunity: Head Chef in Grand Cayman Islands

This is a great international restaurant culinary career opportunity as a working Head Chef for a Mediterranean/Steak/Seafood restaurant in the Grand Cayman Islands, Caribbean (NOT FOR TORONTO).

An established market Fine Dining Restaurant in the Cayman Islands is searching for a hands-on Head Chef to lead its multicultural kitchen brigade. (Sand, sun and sea, are free!)

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a highly energetic and creative professional chef with a solid culinary background, proven leadership skills, and a passion for Mediterranean and Italian international flavors, quality, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Offering a culinary wow factor to local and international guests worldwide
  • Preparation of menu items including desserts
  • Expediting, executing, and assisting on the line during service
  • Ensuring proper sanitation and safety standards are upheld
  • Implementing ongoing training and teaching of the kitchen brigade
  • Maintaining inventory with a focus on budgeting, cost analysis, and planning
  • Fostering a positive environment to encourage growth and diversity within the workplace
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Knowledge of current restaurant culinary trends in seafood and international cuisine
  • Hands-on experience in trend-setting restaurants in major cities
  • Post-secondary degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent industry experience with at least 3 years as a Head Chef in a quality restaurant like O&B
  • Strong understanding of menu planning, cost analysis, portioning, and plate presentation
  • Full knowledge of inventory control measures and ability to develop and execute them
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability within a small kitchen team
  • Proficiency in computer use, including menu costing and recipe conversion
  • Availability to start upon obtaining work permit visa approval within 45 to 60 days
Compensation and Benefits:

Annual salary of USD $65,000 net tax-free (equivalent to 90,000 CAD tax-free), with annual vacation and benefits. Accommodation is the responsibility of the candidate, estimated at around $1,800 USD for a one-bedroom apartment.
