Location : We are seeking an experienced Restaurant & Suites Manager for the Mary Brown Centre in St. Johns, Canada .

Unit Description :

The Mary Brown's Centre is a multi-purpose arena located in downtown St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It serves as a major venue for sports, concerts, and community events. The facility seats around 6,300 for hockey and up to 7,000 for concerts. It has hosted several professional sports teams over the years, including the St. John's Maple Leafs and the Newfoundland Growlers, and is currently home to the Newfoundland Rogues basketball team and local junior and senior hockey teams.

Job Overview :

This is a dual role overseeing a 45-seat Restaurant and 36 Suites in the Mary Brown's Centre.

Restauran t – this person will oversee daily operations, food safety, ensuring a high standard of customer service, and operational efficiency during sports events, concerts, and public programs.

Suites – this person is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the premium suites and VIP hospitality areas at the arena. This role ensures seamless service for suite guests, coordinates food and beverage logistics, and provides a premium experience for corporate and high-profile clients.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage restaurant and concession operations across all events.
  • Oversee all aspects of suite operations, including guest services and F&B coordination
  • Manage suite bookings, setup, and teardown for events
  • Work with the catering team to plan and execute pre-ordered and in-suite dining
  • Ensure cleanliness, setup, and service levels meet premium standards
  • Hire, train, and supervise front-of-house and back-of-house staff
  • Monitor food safety, quality, and presentation standards
  • Oversee inventory control, ordering, and vendor relationships
  • Coordinate staffing schedules to match event requirements
  • Collaborate with event operations, marketing, and suites departments to support VIP catering needs

Qualifications :

  • 2–3 years of experience in hospitality, suites, or event management
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Attention to detail and customer service excellence
  • Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling software, and inventory tools
  • Food Safety and Smart Serve (or equivalent) certification required
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedule

Other Requirements :

  • Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
