Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program required.
  • Must have CPR Level C and NRP certifications.

Detailed Overview

Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory therapy: assists with in-service education and provides input into program development.


Responsibilities


  1. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic assessments, interventions and follow-ups related to respiratory therapy.
  2. Maintains documentation ensuring reports, records and workload statistics are complete and accurate.
  3. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care goals and therapeutic strategies.
  4. Monitors and performs required maintenance, cleaning, calibration, evaluation and quality control of respiratory and related equipment.
  5. Participates in quality improvement activities such as developing, implementing and evaluating written procedures.
  6. Provides in-service education as required.
  7. Participates in meetings and departmental committees.
  8. Participates in Respiratory Therapy student education and various in-services for staff and the community.
  9. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exam. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).

Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Level C. Possession of and maintained Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
