Job summary

Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta is seeking a Respiratory Therapist I to assess patients, develop care plans, and monitor progress across cardiopulmonary care. You will handle diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and educate patients and families on treatments.

The role requires BLS, NRP, CRTA registration, and flexibility for day/night rotations across NICU, OR, ED, and ICU.

Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will practice to full scope, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to diagnose and manage patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary and related disorders. Your role includes delivering high-quality respiratory care across diverse settings, educating patients, families, students, and staff, supporting process improvement and maintaining accountable practice, advocating for patients using principles of patient- and family-centered care, and providing technical expertise for respiratory therapy equipment. As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.

Required Qualifications:

Ability to work 11.08-hour day/night rotations. Flexibility to work in all hospital areas, including NICU, Pediatrics, Labour & Delivery, OR, PACU, Wards, ED, Ambulatory RT, and ICU.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent neonatal invasive and non-invasive ventilation experience, current PALS and ACLS certifications, competency in arterial line insertion, adult intubation, and point-of-care ultrasound for art line insertion. Formal mentorship and preceptorship training, relevant Bachelor's degree, and Connect Care experience are assets.
