Position Overview

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist. This role involves performing all modes of respiratory care, including delivery of nebulizers, arterial blood gases, maintaining artificial airways, and mechanical ventilation, across all age groups from perinatal to geriatric.

Employment Details

• Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
• Schedule: Holidays - Every Other Holiday; Weekends - Every Other Weekend; Hours - 7 am to 7 pm; Total Hours - 36/week
• Shift: Day Shift, 12 Hours
• Cost Center: 25080 - 1710 Respiratory Therapy
• Sign-on Bonus: $10,000 (eligibility discussed during recruitment)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
• Document all care activities and charges accurately in the hospital EMR system.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
• Operate and maintain arterial blood gas machines, mechanical ventilators, V60 NIPPV, and high-flow oxygen systems.
• Disinfect, transport, and set up non-disposable equipment.
• Adhere to hospital standards of behavior and complete annual competencies.

Standard Staffing Responsibilities

• Follow departmental policies and participate in meetings and training.
• Use quality improvement in daily operations.
• Comply with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain professionalism, respect diverse views, and ensure reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensed in Massachusetts for respiratory care.
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Maintain CEUs as per Massachusetts regulations.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed.
• Work near moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and chemicals.
