Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager, while maintaining close professional links with Respiratory Therapy Services, the Community Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) works as a member of an inter-disciplinary team in CHS to provide respiratory therapy consultation assessment and treatment of CHS clients. The Community RRT is responsible for identifying potential clients for program admission and linking with other CHS members and physicians to ensure that admission criteria are met. The Community RRT plans and carries out a treatment program for each client, which may include assessment and treatment in the client's own home, and in-hospital consultation for discharge. This position acts as a resource for physicians, other members of CHS and provides input regarding future initiatives and directions of CHS.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
