Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Critical Care, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced-based, comprehensive, safe, effective, and ethical care to all clients in need of Respiratory Therapist services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supporting the functioning of the anesthesiology role in the Operating Room and Labour and Delivery.
  • Managing mechanically ventilated patients including modification of ventilation in accordance with ventilation and weaning protocols.
  • Assisting in the transport of intubated patients.
  • Ongoing assessment and intervention for high-risk respiratory failure patients.
  • Achieving certification in intubation and arterial line insertion.
  • Participating in the on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS, ACLS certification required. PALS and NPR certification an asset.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated previous clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality patient care.
  • Home oxygen experience an asset.
  • Excellent attendance and work record.
