Job summary

The position requires a four-year degree with five years of related experience, strong investigations skills, and knowledge of Human Rights law, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a unionized

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree plus courses in Human Rights legislation/policy.
  • Experience conducting formal and informal investigations.
  • Knowledge of discrimination/harassment, ethics and integrity, and compliance investigation methodologies.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing new programs and systems.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills with impartial decisions.
  • Ability to develop prevention strategies and deliver training.
  • Strong project management and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Human Rights Law, workplace safety, labour legislation and unionized settings.
  • Familiarity with Alternative Dispute Resolution processes.
  • Interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate with executives and employees.
  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative.
  • MS Office proficiency and ability to work independently.
  • Valid Manitoba Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop discrimination and harassment prevention strategies and training materials.
  • Provide consultative guidance on HR rights and respectful workplace issues.
  • Analyze and evaluate human rights matters and recommend resolutions.
  • Maintain policy P597 – Discrimination and Harassment Free Workplace.
  • Coordinate informal interventions and refer to internal/external resources.
  • Oversee formal investigations of discrimination and harassment.
  • Coordinate responses to complaints from Manitoba Human Rights Commission and other bodies.
  • Coordinate an Alternate Dispute Resolution service with other departments.
  • Keep abreast of changes in Human Rights and related policies.
  • Support documentation of unit activities, programs and investigations.
  • Assist with compliance programs and Integrity Program investigations.
