Resource Teachers

St-Laurent Academy is a dynamic and inspiring, JK to Grade 12, Private School located in Ottawa, Ontario.
We are growing significantly, recently purchasing a new school space in the beautiful Rockcliffe/Lindenlea neighbourhood, and are currently accepting applications for full-time: Resource Teachers for 2025 - 2026 School Year.

Positions:
  • High School (Grades 9 - 12).
  • Junior High (Grades 6 - 8).
  • Elementary (Grades 1 - 5).
Job Types: Full-Time.

Qualifications:
  • Must be eligible to work in Ontario.
  • ECE, EA and/or TA (particularly for High School) certifications or related experience working with youth (coaching, tutoring, etc.)
  • Experience tutoring in the key subject areas related to the different levels of school. For example, in High School, confidence working 1:1 with a student or, small group of students, in the high sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) For Example, in Junior High, confidence working in Math and English Language Arts.
  • Understanding on an IEP and the variety of accommodations or modifications that can be implemented for a student.
  • Excellent classroom management, organization, and planning skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills in English.
  • Computer literacy: proficient and knowledgeable with all Google Suite products (Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Forms, Sheets) Microsoft Office (Excel), and Smart-board Technology.
  • Experience with the Barton Reading & Spelling Program and/or Orton-Gillingham based tools.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Understands the needs of students and goes beyond the call of duty.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents.
  • Flexible, with an ability to manage to change strategies, environments, and needs.
  • Core characteristics with regards to kindness, patience, creativity, positive energy and a love for teaching is essential.
The following assets are preferred but not required:
  • Ability to communicate in French.
  • Experience in a private/independent school.
  • Experience /Education in Special Education is valued highly.
  • Coaching and Leadership experiences (the Arts, Sports, Clubs, etc.) are important.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary with additional annual bonus components.
  • Benefits include Group Health Insurance (after 180 days of employment).
  • Self-Directed RRSP (with employer contribution after 1 year of employment).
  • Additional week vacation during March/Spring Break (2 weeks), in addition to regular vacation time, stat holidays and extra days that the school provides to support teacher wellness.

  • Ability to Coach a team and/or run a specific specialized club in addition to the regular schedule, with additional remuneration provided.

The school follows the traditional school year calendar from early September through late June.
