Resource Person (RP) Role

The Resource Person (RP) is primarily responsible for daily patient care, ensuring safety and quality for patients and staff, and managing patient flow within the unit.

The RP provides clinical leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating care, aligning with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards, the Regulated Health Professions Act, and Humber River Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The role also involves contributing to the Humber River Strategy and promoting patient- and family-centered care.

Employment Status: Temporary Full Time

Duration: Until May 1, 2026

Focus Area: Inpatient Respirology

Reporting To: Manager, Respirology 8 East

Location: Humber River Health - Wilson Site

Work Hours: 12-hour shifts on a full rotation

Hourly Rate: $43.19 - $60.12

Responsibilities

Clinical Practice

  • Ensure effective communication about patient issues across shifts, assist in identifying practice improvements, and maintain a safe environment.
  • Follow up on issues from previous shifts, including patient/family concerns and incidents.
  • Maintain awareness of patient care plans, patient status, and special procedures, and adjust staffing based on patient needs and staff skills.

Patient Care

  • Adjust staffing and assignments as needed during shifts, act as a resource, facilitate team communication, and participate in patient care planning.
  • Monitor patient flow and clinical status, encourage interdisciplinary rounds, and coordinate discharge and transfer processes.

Educational Responsibilities

  • Engage in ongoing learning, support staff education, and collaborate on patient teaching programs.
  • Assist with orientation and identify educational needs for staff and students.

Non-Clinical Responsibilities

  • Report relevant issues, lead safety huddles, ensure equipment maintenance, and support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with staffing and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Current specialty certifications, BCLS certification, and recent clinical experience required.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
