The Opportunity

Mosaic is seeking a Resource Analyst to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia (consideration will also be given to candidates located in Vancouver).

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Timberland Optimization, the Resource Analyst will build, maintain, and explain timber-supply models that support Mosaic’s valuation processes, strategic, and tactical planning. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Preparing and validating data for the 10-year tactical plan;
  • Maintaining long-term strategic forest estate model datasets and integrating updated yield curves;
  • Running timber supply and valuation scenarios, preparing and presenting clear slide decks and dashboards;
  • Executing optimization models and delivering actionable plans to the Planning and Operations teams; and
  • Streamlining processes and tools by developing and standardizing analysis workflows and templates.
What We’re Seeking
  • Undergraduate degree in Forestry, Forest Resources, or related field;
  • 2–5 years’ experience in forest estate modelling or analysis. Exposure to valuation or M&A due diligence is preferred, but not required;
  • Professional forestry designation (i.e., RPF, RFT) or eligibility to obtain is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Remsoft Woodstock or Patchworks, R, Python, SQL, ESRI ArcGIS, and strong data analysis and visualization skills;
  • Knowledge of forestry practices, forest inventory techniques, and forest management principles; and
  • Exceptional written and verbal presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex analytics to senior leadership and board audiences.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, education and location.
