Great Blue Resorts owns and operates 10 private resort lakefront properties located throughout Ontario’s cottage country. These properties offer outright ownership of beautiful pre-manufactured seasonal recreational cottages.Our resorts have full facilities including community areas, swimming pools, splash pads, multi-sports courts, playgrounds and beaches.

The Resort Skipper / Boat Operator is a strong sales driver, profit focused and people oriented.

This Position is key to managing activities in the beach/marina and sustaining positive relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and strong financial returns for investors while generating revenue through chargeable rentals of equipment.

Responsibilities

The Skipper is responsible for all waterfront activities, equipment and the safe operation and maintenance of all resort boats.

The Resort Skipper / Boat Operator’s responsibility will include but not limited to the following:

  • Operations and Sales
  • Greet and assist boaters upon arrival
  • Facilitate pontoon boat rides with owners and rental guests.
  • Provide knowledgeable local information during tours for guests.
  • Operate a cash register, and credit and debit terminals If Applicable
  • Complete paperwork such as dockage forms, daily cash balance sheets, fuel pump readings, etc.
  • Power washing boats If applicable
  • Work may involve responsibility for the leasing and renting of boat space, collection of lease/rental fees, enforcing Marina rules and assisting boat owners in proper boat handling, mooring, or other assigned marine related functions
  • Equipment Management
  • Accurately check and evaluate equipment daily, including canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, water bikes/walkerz/balls, SUPs and paddleboats
  • Ensure safety equipment is in proper working condition, including life jackets, paddles, oars and safety kits.
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory records.
  • Ensure all non-motorized equipment is kept clean and available.
  • Ensure pontoon boat and all fishing boats and motors are clean, operable and ready for rental.
  • Ensure life jackets are in pristine condition
  • Property maintenance
  • Ensure beach is raked daily and chairs set up/organized
  • Ensure docks are in good condition and safe
  • Ensure non-motorized water equipment area is clean, organized, well-presented.
  • Support Duties
  • Support Housekeeping by emptying garbage containers, clean washrooms and showers,
  • Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor
  • Responsibility also may include assignments in the inspection of Marina facilities in order to maintain the safety of equipment and facilities and may include performing minor maintenance and repairs, as assigned or needed.

Skills/Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with and knowledgeable of pontoon and fishing boat motors and operation
  • Must be able to operate and navigate a pontoon boat safely on lakes and/or canals/rivers and be comfortable with waterway lock systems and circumnavigate water hazards.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with all guests and always ensure safety of vessel and occupants.
  • Must have the physical dexterity to moor and unmoor boats from docks, lift or move canoes, kayaks and other water equipment to and from shore.
  • Must be able to properly lift and/or carry water equipment and/or motors up to 50 pounds for short distances.
  • Must be physically able to operate and/or troubleshoot operational issues with boats and motors.
  • Must be able to work independently and with little supervision.
  • Must have Pleasure Craft Operators Card
