Job Description
We have an immediate opening for a Residential Lead Garage Door Technician in our Edmonton Branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Lead Technician will service and install overhead doors. This is a permanent, full-time position with potential on-call and overtime commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Install sectional (including FinDoor), rolling steel, fire doors, high-speed doors, security grilles, roll shutters, bifold doors
- Service and diagnose problems, provide solutions, and perform necessary work on overhead doors
- Communicate and coordinate with the scheduler regarding problem solving, parts, and solutions
- Perform welding for installation or repair as needed
- Assess job scope at the start of each job, noting discrepancies such as product warranty, site conditions, and safety concerns
- Travel out of town for installation and service work, including weekdays
- Provide estimates for person-hours and costs for repairs or replacements
- Lift at least 75 pounds, depending on job scope
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold and heat, performing lifting, pulling, climbing, and other physical tasks
- Complete and submit all required paperwork daily, including timesheets, FHLA’s, and work orders
- Participate in on-call rotation for service if needed
- Pass pre-employment screening, including drug, alcohol, and health assessments
- Possess a valid driver’s license and safely transport products to and from sites
- Maintain a strong safety mindset and ensure safety training and tickets are current
- Attend punctually and maintain daily attendance
- Perform other duties within the operations department as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience in service and installation industries or related trades/construction
- Valid driver’s license
- CDI Certification is an asset but not required
- Relevant safety training and tickets (e.g., OSSA Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, First Aid, CSTS) are assets
- Experience with overhead door servicing and installation is strongly preferred
- Wearing PPE, including a hard hat, is mandatory
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment screening
- Provide current Driver’s Abstract at own expense if hired
