We are seeking a safety-conscious and reliable Residential/Recycling Truck Driver to operate side-load and/or rear-load collection vehicles for residential waste and recycling routes. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe collection, transportation, and disposal of solid waste and recyclables while ensuring high standards of customer service and compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate residential/recycling collection vehicles and hydraulic equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load waste, recyclables, and yard debris into truck; operate compacting equipment.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Maintain route efficiency and cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • Identify and remove prohibited waste items as required.
  • Complete required documentation including route sheets and daily reports.
  • Ensure use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, helpers, mechanics, and customers.
  • Attend safety meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • May be required to work overtime or assist with other routes as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience OR a CDL school certificate.
  • Ability to meet all safety-sensitive job requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Familiarity with truck operation, safety procedures, and routine maintenance.
  • Ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces using mirrors and spatial awareness.
  • Recognize and handle unacceptable or hazardous waste materials safely.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read route maps, service tickets, and safety documents.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and flexibility to adapt to changes.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly and working in varied conditions.

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and exposure to the elements.
  • Visual and auditory acuity required for navigating in traffic and operating equipment.
  • Ability to sit for long periods while driving; standing and walking also required.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noise, vibration, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Operates continuously in traffic and high-activity environments.
