Residential - Respite Contractor (Accessible Home)
Why work for New Age Services?

We offer a supportive team environment, ongoing training and developmental opportunities, competitive wages, and benefits. We value diversity and believe it makes us stronger—embracing human differences and providing equal opportunities for growth, advancement, and reward. Our six core values guide our daily actions:

  • Advocacy: We passionately advocate for those unable to speak up fully for themselves.
  • Results: We set high performance standards.
  • Caring: We go the extra mile to build caring and meaningful relationships.
  • Empower: We empower employees to take initiatives.
  • Ownership: We expect everyone to take ownership and share the workload.
  • Learning: We welcome new ways of thinking and acting.
What to expect in the role:

This position involves working with a female client who resides with a supportive roommate. The client has diagnoses including cerebral palsy and epilepsy and uses a wheelchair. We seek a regular respite provider with an accessible home (including an accessible washroom) for two-day stays every other weekend. Support will include personal care. During respite, the client enjoys activities fostering community inclusion, such as visits to parks, church, movies, and meals. She is social and enjoys discussions, so attentive listening and patience are essential. The provider should foster a positive, supportive environment where the individual can thrive and feel comfortable.

Schedule & Pay:

The position offers a maximum rate of $654 monthly. Respite is provided every other weekend for two days. You can work from any wheelchair-accessible location within the city. Shared equipment such as a commode and mobile ramp (up to two steps) will be available.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma or Certificate in Human Services or Disability Sector
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance
  • Ability to swim
  • Home insurance and Commercial Liability insurance
  • 1-2 years relevant experience in human services
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A training
  • Willingness to make modifications for access needs
  • Home visit and assessment required
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience working with seniors
  • Training and experience in medication administration
  • Additional training such as Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention, Positive Behavior Supports, etc.
  • Potential additional training like Mental Health First Aid
Covid-19 Vaccination Policy:

To ensure safety, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (two doses plus boosters, if required) is mandatory for all staff at NAS Inc.
