Job summary

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a Residential Counsellor to develop and implement individualized programs for adults with developmental disabilities across Lawson Ministries programs. Qualifications

• Completion of a accredited post-secondary program: Developmental Social Worker Diploma or equivalent in Human Services field.
• Current First Aid & CPR with Defibrillation training.
• Current Non Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certification (CPI).
• Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Ontario Class G Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement individualized, goal-centered programs for adults with developmental disabilities.
• Promote independence and a supportive, nurturing environment.
• Assist with meeting Service User’s physical needs (food, clothing, shelter) and daily living skills.
• Maintain daily logs and documentation using the AIMS software.
• Administer and document medication as required.
• Respond to emergencies and transport Service Users as needed.
• Collaborate with families and professionals to support behaviour management and skill development.
