Job summary

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Residential Care Worker to provide client-centered care in a supportive environment. This role involves working with culturally diverse populations in a clinical support capacity, requiring a High School diploma and certifications in CPR and First Aid. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Position Overview
Experience
  • Suitable combination of education and experience working in a residential facility, addictions related employment experience, and/or volunteer work.
  • Experience working from a client-centered perspective.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within an inter-disciplinary team.
  • The ability to work within and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations is essential.
  • The ability to operate Microsoft software applications, internet, and email communications.
  • Valid CPR-C with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training and First Aid certification are required prior to beginning work.
  • Knowledge of the addictions field is required.
  • Fluency in English (the ability to communicate in aboriginal languages, including Ojibwe and Cree, as well as French, is considered an asset).
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
  • Suitable physical health to perform required duties.
  • Availability for shift work.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
