A community service organization in Richmond, BC, is seeking a Residential Care Worker to support individuals with developmental disabilities.   • Schedule/Hours: Tuesday 16:00-22:30, Saturday 15:30-22:30, Sunday 15:00-22:30 (21.0 hours per week)
  • Hourly Wage: $28.25 as per collective agreement
The Role:

The Residential Care Worker (RCW) assists residents to live successfully in community residential settings. The position ensures residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, economic, educational, and medical needs are met. The RCW enhances quality of life through activities of daily living, working independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and sound judgment in problem-solving.

Requirements/Education/Experience:
  • Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Human Services, Education, or related fields supporting people with developmental disabilities
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Training in adaptive communication and community care is an asset
  • Experience supporting mental health and positive Behavioral Reinforcement preferred
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Class 5 Driver’s License; willingness to obtain Class 4 Restricted Driver’s License during probation
  • Satisfactory driver’s abstract and criminal record clearance
  • Training in positive behavior support
  • Medical clearance to perform lifts and transfers of 40 lbs
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) and Cantonese
  • Eligible to work in Canada
