Qualifications

  • Two years of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities.
  • Current Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Food Safe certificates required.
  • Class 4 Driver's License preferred, minimum Class 5 required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist people in residential settings to enhance their quality of life.
  • Ensure physical, emotional, social, and medical needs are met.
  • Provide support for community participation.

Kinsight is an accredited non-profit organization.We work alongside families of children, youth and adults with developmental delays or disabilities to support growth, development and personal well-being.We work with hundreds of community members and professionals to welcome and include all people, and foster vibrant and healthy communities.We serve the communities of New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.Our mission is to provide options and opportunities for people to have meaningful relationships and fulfilling lives.

SHIFTS: We have multiple positions available with different shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Residential Care Workers assist people who live in a variety of residential settings to enhance their quality of life by providing opportunities for independence, learning and self expression. These opportunities will reflect and respect personal preferences and choices of the people served. The responsibilities of this position include ensuring that people’s physical, emotional, social, and medical needs are met. Residential Care Workers provide support/advocacy for all people to participate as full members of the community.

LOCATION: Port Coquitlam & Coquitlam

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Human Services or Community Support Worker or equivalent
  • Two years of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities and behaviour challenges
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Support techniques, knowledge and experience in skill-based training
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals and families
  • Experience with assisting people with a variety of personal care needs an asset
  • Class 4 Driver's License preferred, minimum Class 5 Driver's License required
  • Required to use personal vehicle
  • Current Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Food Safe certificates
  • This position requires BCGEU union membership
