Job summary

A community support organization is seeking Residential Care Workers in Port Coquitlam & Coquitlam. The role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by providing opportunities for independence and self-expression. Candidates should have relevant experience and education in human services. This position offers flexible shifts and requires certification in First Aid/CPR and a Driver's License.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities and behaviour challenges.
• Current Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Food Safe certificates are required.
• Class 4 Driver's License preferred, minimum Class 5 Driver's License required.

SHIFTS: We have multiple positions available with different shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Residential Care Workers assist people who live in a variety of residential settings to enhance their quality of life by providing opportunities for independence, learning and self expression. These opportunities will reflect and respect personal preferences and choices of the people served. The responsibilities of this position include ensuring that people’s physical, emotional, social, and medical needs are met. Residential Care Workers provide support/advocacy for all people to participate as full members of the community.

LOCATION: Port Coquitlam & Coquitlam

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma in Human Services or Community Support Worker or equivalent
• Two years of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities and behaviour challenges
• Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Support techniques, knowledge and experience in skill-based training
• Ability to interact effectively with individuals and families
• Experience with assisting people with a variety of personal care needs an asset
• Class 4 Driver's License preferred, minimum Class 5 Driver's License required
• Required to use personal vehicle
• Current Community Care First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Food Safe certificates
• This position requires BCGEU union membership
