Job summary

Howick Mutual Insurance in Ontario seeks a dynamic underwriting professional to join our team. You will underwrite a profitable book of residential and automobile business, build broker relationships, and contribute to a collaborative, hybrid workplace with employer-paid benefits.

Reporting to the Manager of Underwriting, you will apply technical knowledge, meet service level goals, review claims data and maintain confidentiality while delivering excellent client service.

Qualifications

• CIP designation, or actively pursuing.
• Minimum of 3 years of residential and/or auto underwriting experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Experience with Cognition+ is an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills.
• Sound analytical, problem solving and decision‑making skills.
• Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Brokers and other business partners.
• Apply technical knowledge and underwriting to new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations while following binding authority and policies.
• Meet established goals and service level requirements.
• Review claims experience, MVRs, auto plus reports, HITS, loss prevention information and underwrite accordingly.
• Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality and a collaborative team approach.
