Job summary

Victor Insurance Managers Inc. in Mississauga, Canada is seeking a Technical Underwriter with strong Small Group underwriting and pricing experience. The role is hybrid, requiring three days in-office weekly, and involves quoting, renewals, and plan design pricing for client groups.

You will refine pricing models, collaborate with Sales, and mentor junior staff while maintaining high service levels for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Five years in Small Group insurance underwriting or pricing with live quoting.
• Strong knowledge of group benefits underwriting principles and plan design features.
• Excellent Excel skills and ability to handle large data sets.
• Clear written and verbal communication for Sales and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Quote new business timely with competitive pricing by analyzing census, claims, and plan design.
• Manage monthly in-force renewals: compute positions, update systems, escalate anomalies.
• Develop and price plan alternatives for in-force groups with cost comparisons.
• Collaborate with Sales during negotiations; explain pricing rationale and approvals.
• Maintain pricing models and templates; support renewal workflows.
• Review analyses by junior staff to ensure consistent assumptions.
• Participate in automation to improve data quality and reduce manual work.
• Provide clear verbal and written updates to Sales, New Business, and leadership.
