Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Housekeeping Aide in Ottawa to clean residents’ apartments and common areas using standard institutional cleaning methods. You will operate floor care and steam cleaning equipment, strip and buff floors, manage waste, and follow residence policies and safety guidelines.

The role requires good English communication, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and familiarity with healthcare cleaning practices.

Qualifications

• Good oral and written English communication required.
• Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis.
• Knowledge of standard institutional cleaning techniques.
• Experience in commercial/residential/healthcare cleaning and laundry is desirable.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must meet the physical requirements of the job.
• Second language proficiency is an asset.
• Must provide or obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident apartments and common areas as per schedule.
• Use cleaning and sanitation methods and equipment.
• Operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment.
• Strip, scrub, spray and buff carpet and floors as needed.
• Maintain safety rules and residence policies.
• Attend in-service training and staff meetings.
• Support Quality Improvement activities and resident rights.
