Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Care or the Director of Health and Wellness, the Resident Care Manager is responsible for the planning, direction, and evaluation of quality resident care in accordance with the Mission, Values, and Pledge, various standards of practice, regulations, and Resident Care Manager ensures optimum delivery of care through effective human resource management, utilization of the nursing process, and functioning as an integral member of the management team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures resident satisfaction and promotes continuous quality improvement initiatives;
  2. Assists nursing staff in developing, implementing, and reviewing initial and ongoing assessments and care plans;
  3. Assists with recruiting, hiring, and terminating nursing staff in consultation with the Director of Care;
  4. Assigns, supervises, and disciplines nursing staff;
  5. Schedules and replaces staff across departments in the absence of the designated department head;
  6. Manages care issues related to residents, families, and advocates;
  7. Promotes and ensures an interdisciplinary approach to resident care;
  8. Acts as a role model for nursing staff by demonstrating clinical expertise and comprehensive knowledge in resident care delivery;
  9. Provides ongoing staff development and education to enhance the level of care/services provided;
  10. Possesses knowledge and experience with MDS/Care Management systems;
  11. Responsible for overall supervision of the entire building in the absence of senior management;
  12. Works in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
  13. Upholds and promotes the organization’s values and philosophy, particularly relating to ethics, morality, and integrity, as set out in Reveras Code of Conduct;
  14. Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, or long-term care at the supervisory and/or management level;
  • Registered nurse with a current unrestricted license or eligible for registration with CRNM/CRPNM; BN preferred;
  • Experience managing in a multi-unionized environment;
  • Experience with continuous quality improvement, risk management processes, and person-centered care philosophy;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of current Manitoba health legislation and standards, PPCO workplace safety and health, and experience with MDS/Care Management systems;
  • Demonstrated leadership with comprehensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices related to long-term care;
  • Vulnerable Sector Checks (add if not mentioned).
