Are you a seasoned Registered Nurse ready to lead with compassion, confidence, and clinical excellence? As the Resident Care Coordinator (RCC) you will provide leadership across Long Term Care and Extended Care facilities, ensuring safe, ethical, and high-quality care, especially during off-hours. This role combines clinical expertise, mentorship, and emergency response in a dynamic care environment.

This competition is to fill TWO Positions: One Full-Time Indeterminate position and One Part-Time one year Term

Key Responsibilities

The role serves as a key operational leader within a long-term care (LTC) and extended care (EC) facility, acting as an agent of the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Crisis Management & Risk Oversight: Leading responses to internal emergencies, coordinating with emergency services, documenting high-risk incidents, and managing sensitive or urgent issues.
  • Staff Leadership & Facility Operations: Guiding and supporting staff, managing admissions and staffing based on resident needs, and ensuring compliance with territorial standards and admission protocols.
  • Resident Care Delivery: Providing and monitoring direct nursing care for high-acuity residents (Levels 3-5), advocating for resident dignity and autonomy, and ensuring ethical and individualized care.
  • Professional Development & Quality Assurance: Coaching staff, fostering a learning environment, participating in committees and quality improvement initiatives, and aligning care with established standards and models.
  • Resident & Family Education: Assessing educational needs, developing resources, and facilitating understanding of care plans during admission, transfer, or discharge.

Key Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN) AND Five (5) years of relevant experience including One (1) year in Long-Term Care, or Extended care setting
  • OR
  • A Registered Nurse AND Ten (10) years of relevant experience including One (1) in Long-Term Care, or extended care setting

Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible for registration with CANNN and obtain registration before employment
  • Hold a vulnerable sector check with the RCMP
