Job description

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Experience: Experience an asset

Work setting: Nursing home / home for the aged

Tasks:

  1. Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities
  2. Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
  3. Supply and empty bed pans
  4. Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse
  5. Serve meal trays and feed patients
  6. Weigh, lift, turn and position patients
  7. Make beds and maintain patients' rooms
  8. Bathe, dress and groom patients
  9. Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher
  10. Collect specimens
  11. Administer first aid in emergency situations
  12. Provide companionship
  13. Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  14. Launder clothing and household linens
  15. Administer bedside and personal care
  16. Feed or assist in feeding
  17. Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:

  1. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
  2. First Aid Certificate
  3. CPR Certificate
  4. Personal Support Worker Certificate

Security and safety:

  1. Criminal record check
  2. Immunization records
  3. Tuberculosis test
  4. Reference required

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

  1. Standing for extended periods
  2. Combination of sitting, standing, walking
