Job description

Resident Assistant (Personal Support Worker) Senior's Health Centre, PT (J0425-0750)

Position Summary

Resident Assistant, Nursing and Personal Care Services, Seniors’ Health Centre: Your goal in this position is to assist nursing personnel in providing personal care to residents and perform procedures and treatments for which you have received special instructions. You will also perform other duties associated with the activities of daily living of the residents. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. You will contribute to ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients, and families.

On a practical level, you will
  1. Perform duties in accordance with legislation, the Mission Statement, Organizational Philosophy, and policies of the Seniors’ Health Centre.
  2. Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Practical Nurse in providing personal care to residents.
  3. Communicate effectively with elderly people and colleagues.
  4. Cooperate as a member of a healthcare team.
  5. Have an interest in, and the ability to work with, the elderly.
Qualifications
  1. Completed Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a College of Applied Arts and Technology.
  2. Registered and in good standing with The Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA).
  3. Long-term care experience preferred.
  4. Skilled in Point of Care (POC) preferred.
  5. Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.
