Your opportunity:

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Residence and Student Life, the incumbent is part of a team that provides a fullrange of front desk residence/hostel reception and guest services for students, staff, faculty and guests of the College.

The regular hours of work is Monday to Friday 3:15pm-11:30pm.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries
  • Collating and organizing materials
  • Providing routine information on programs and events
  • Applying established standards when responding to emergencies
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Resolving minor complaints within the scope of the role and referring larger issues when appropriate
  • Keeping a record of any incidents or events that happen during a shift
  • Liaising with facilities or caretaking staff to facilitate resolution of building issues

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent and related experience working in a residence environment, preferably with direct experience working with a diverse group of students and/or student residents.
  • Experience checking-in and out guests (e.g. making reservations, taking payments, issuing keys, giving directions, running reports, reporting facility issues).
  • Experience providing customer service to guests staying in residence (e.g. responding to concerns and offering assistance where appropriate).
  • Experience coordinating with the caretaking staff for the preparation of rooms, and resolving issues, for guests.
  • Experience handling petty cash/debit card/credit card payments.
  • Experience maintaining and controlling inventory of room and master keys.
  • Intermediate computer skills in: MS Office Suite (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint), E-mail (e.g. Outlook), electronic calendar organizer (e.g. Outlook).
  • Numeracy skill related to handling cash transactions.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to adapt to new and changing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills with experience promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Proven ability to work independently.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience in the hotel or hospitality industry.
