A Brief Overview
The Housing and Ancillary Services team manages almost 5,000 student beds in 18 residence buildings, off-campus rental properties, three dining halls, retail foodservice locations, the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre, University Club, and Event Services. Residence buildings also provide temporary accommodations for summer conferences, events, and tourism. Revenue and services support student life programs and contribute to the University's learning environment.
Queen's Residence Life and Services is dedicated to fostering educational and personal growth among residents. The staff team promotes diversity, accountability, independence, and success in a broader learning environment.
This position develops, implements, and assesses programs supporting the Residence Life Community Development Model, provides programming guidance for Dons, supervises casual student staff, collaborates with campus and community partners, and manages the Don Resource Rooms. It aims to foster belonging, resilience, and academic success in residence students.
The role involves developing academic and learning-focused programs and events, supporting new students during orientation, providing information on residence policies, and offering mentorship and guidance to Residence Dons. The schedule requires working evenings and weekends.
What you will do
  • Develop and coordinate academic and learning-focused programs and events for residence students.
  • Support new students during residence orientation.
  • Create and update marketing materials for student programs and events.
  • Analyze residence experience surveys and feedback to improve future programming.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as generating reports, correspondence, and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation of Residence Dons.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and support to Dons through meetings and interactions.
  • Provide information on residence policies and procedures.
  • Manage programming budget and allocate funds.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the department.
