Senior Technical Planning Researcher (12-Month Contract)

Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Senior Technical Planning Researcher.

About the Team

The Computing Data Application Acceleration Lab aims to create a leading global data analytics platform organized into three specialized teams using innovative programming technologies. This team focuses on full-stack innovations, including software-hardware co-design and optimizing data efficiency at both the storage and runtime layers. This team also develops next-generation GPU architecture for gaming, cloud rendering, VR/AR, and Metaverse applications. One of the goals of this lab is to enhance algorithm performance and training efficiency across industries, fostering long-term competitiveness.

About the Job
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and research achievements in the industry and academia within the AI/ML domain, generating insightful technology reports.
  • Drive the evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge AI/ML technologies and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategic technical plans and lead cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of AI/ML projects.
  • Understand pain points and mid-to-long-term requirements, fostering collaborations with local university professors and industry resources for joint projects.
  • Identify new investment opportunities, advocate for the expansion of technology teams and increasing investments.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the AI/ML team.

The total target annual compensation (based on 2,080 hours per year) ranges from $127,000 - $225,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

Job Requirements
About the Ideal Candidate
  • Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, providing a solid foundation for understanding and navigating complex technical landscape.
  • Demonstrated technical research and development experience in AI/ML domains.
  • Experience in heterogeneous (CPU/GPU/NPU) computing, high performance AI computing architecture, big data, and graphic processing is an asset.
  • Possession of a keen sense of technology, enabling the ability to swiftly distill complex information and generate in-depth insight reports.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, facilitating effective collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to a global team and active participation in various external conferences to gather first-hand insights and stay abreast of the latest industry trends.
