A research organization in Northwestern Ontario is seeking a full-time Research Project Coordinator to coordinate workplace health research. The successful candidate will manage data collection across various businesses and communities while ensuring compliance with research ethics. Ideal candidates should have a degree in Public Health or a related field, and experience in research coordination or recruitment roles. A valid G-class driver’s license is required as some travel is expected.

Enhancing the Prevention of Injury & Disability (EPID) @ Work Research Institute

Location: Thunder Bay Campus, in person

The EPID@Work Research Institute is seeking a full-time Research Project Coordinator to join our team for the Northwestern Ontario Workplace and Worker Health Study (NOWWHS). This is a 7-month contract position (with potential for renewal based on performance and funding). The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting workplace health research by coordinating data collection across Northwestern Ontario businesses and communities, working alongside a team of research assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively recruit workplaces through cold calling, emails, and presentations.
  • Schedule and organize workplace visits, meetings, and data collection sessions.
  • Coordinate with team members and research assistants during tasking.
  • Ensure compliance with research ethics guidelines (e.g., TCPS2) and maintain data integrity.
  • Assist in community engagement to promote study participation.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Public Health, Psychology, Occupational Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Previous work as a research assistant, project coordinator, or in customer service/recruitment roles.
  • Preferred Assets:
  • Familiarity with Northwestern Ontario communities.
  • Knowledge of research ethics (TCPS2) and data collection tools (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics).
  • Valid driver’s license (some travel within Northwestern Ontario may be required).

A valid G-class driver’s license with 2-years minimum experience is required and ability to work overtime outside of normal working hours, including some evenings, weekends, and overnight trips. A graduate degree and knowledge of research design and methodologies will be considered an asset.
