The Opportunity

Researchers within IWK Health Mental Health and Addictions (MHA), in collaboration with IM/IT Business Intelligence, are recruiting a Data Engineer. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure, supporting data-driven projects, and working on cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines
  • Support data infrastructure maintenance and optimization
  • Develop ETL processes for data extraction and manipulation
  • Automate workflows such as data ingestion and ETL processing
  • Prepare raw data for stakeholders in the Enterprise Data Warehouse
  • Partner with analysts and leaders to deploy machine learning models
  • Build and deploy data assets on cloud platforms
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, privacy, and security
  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations
Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 7.5-hour shifts. Position based in Halifax (remote or hybrid).

Your Qualifications

We encourage applicants with:

  • Undergraduate degree or certification in health, informatics, computer science, engineering, business, or sciences
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, communication skills, flexibility, problem-solving ability
  • Experience with SSIS, SQL, Python, R, or similar tools
  • Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to learn new technologies
Assets
  • Master’s degree in relevant fields
  • Experience in healthcare settings
  • Strong project management skills, PMP certification
  • Experience with clinical data and data integration
  • Microsoft Azure certifications
